What If? and What Then?
What if the courts rule against Trump’s. . .
Use of U.S. Military to quell the Americans’ First Amendment right to protest?
Denial of due process to people under arrest?
Intimidation of a Free Press?
Threatening and physically attacking Democratic politicians and uncooperative judges?
Dismantling of America’s institutions of higher learning?
Masked ICE agents snatching unsuspecting people off the street and sending them to foreign gulags?
Mass firings of competent federal employees without cause?
Stealing from the poor to create a functioning oligarchy modeled on Russia and Hungary?
Ultimately, what if the courts rule against Trump on some or all of these, and he ignores their rulings and follows his lawless course?
What then?
Will the courts hold Trump in contempt and order Marshalls to arrest him?
Will the MAGA compromised FBI and DHS arrest him?
Will any generals or admirals in the armed forces honor their oath to the Constitution and defy Trump’s illegal orders?
Will more legacy media cower in face of Trump’s threats?
Will Chuck Schumer send another harshly worded letter sufficient to bring Trump to heel? Will Chuck lead another rally of feckless, impotent Democrats chanting 1960’s civil rights ditties?
Will a sufficient number of cowardly Republicans magically decide to place country over party and defy Trump?
Will mass demonstrations change minds or, instead, provide Trump with an opportunity to attack protesters and send in ICE goons and the military to carry out mass arrests?
Will a charismatic “White or Black Knight” come riding in at the last moment and save us from disaster, as Lincoln and Roosevelt did when last America was on the brink of collapse?
Will the center hold, now that Trump and his MAGAverse are filled with a “passionate intensity” and seem quite eager and willing to loose a “blood-dimmed tide.”
Or, will Trump get away with it all?
Events have changed rapidly and ominously. I really do not know the answer to these questions, but I am pessimistic, and I don’t read or hear these dire possibilities being examined in the media. Though I am pessimistic by nature, I will fight to my last breath against these bastards with words and physical protests, but still I worry they may win.

What should we say to our children and grandchildren?
I share your pessimism- the inmates are in charge of the prisons and the prosecutors office.
