Reflections on a Shattered Nation
I recommend the above article for two reasons: First, it profiles a world of aggressively un-Christian Christianity propagated by tattooed MAGA males who spend more time in the weight room than in the chapel. “Pastor Don,” here, is a mini-Pete Hegseth, spouting the gun smoking gospel of Pulp Fiction.
Meursault’s words help us understand Trump’s increasingly authoritarian behavior; why, for example, he has demanded hand-picked male troops for his neo-Nuremberg “Freedom 250” celebration — to present the ideal (Aryan?) male, the imaginary image Trump’s sleepy eyes see reflected in the funhouse mirror where he coifs his rugged hair and applies his manly makeup.
Second, the article also implies the schizophrenic tactics desperate MAGA Republicans running for office will use against their Democratic opponents. For example, loathsome candidate, Ken Paxton, cast in the mold of his loathsome master, will portray his opponent, James Talarico, as a godless, vegan-eating weakling.
On the other hand, MAGA hypocrites in Maine will condemn senate candidate Democrat, Graham Platner, a muscular, tattooed, ex-warrior, for once being a testosterone powered, womanizing sinner. Instead, they will preach the value of clueless, quivering Susan Collins, a woman who clutches more pearls in a day than Joey Chestnut eats hot dogs.
